Winner of a national design competition, the new primary school in Poggibonsi was conceived to meet the needs of inclusive and innovative education – capable of adapting to social and technological change. The spaces are designed to support experiential learning and personalized educational paths within a welcoming and flexible environment that values diversity and the individual needs of each student.

The building is composed of two main volumes: the academic block, which houses the agora and classrooms, and the block for laboratories and services, connected by a walkway on the upper level. Green elements are integrated into the architecture, creating a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior, and echoing the rolling hills of the Chianti landscape. The timber structure and terracotta cladding highlight the use of natural and sustainable materials.

Great care has been taken to ensure seismic safety, indoor comfort, and energy sustainability. The building adopts passive strategies, geothermal systems, photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting, and smart automation. Natural ventilation, insulation, and humidity control ensure a healthy, comfortable environment while reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

Special attention has been paid to landscape integration and sustainability: the project emphasizes optimal orientation, natural airflow, and a strong relationship with green space. The building sets an example of urban and residential quality within a context undergoing transformation.
