The Sant’Ilario Nursery School in Pescia was designed to offer an innovative, welcoming, and child-centered learning environment. The project is set within a consolidated urban context and responds to the needs of a growing community, with a strong focus on the quality of space and its ability to support the emotional, cognitive, and social development of young children.

The building is organized into multiple sections, each equipped with spaces for educational activities, creative workshops, and play areas, along with dedicated zones for relaxation and reading. Environments are designed to be accessible and adaptable, featuring child-sized furniture and safe, sustainable materials. Special attention has been given to natural lighting and visual connections with the surrounding green spaces, which are integrated into the daily learning experience.

A large garden and well-equipped outdoor areas encourage free play, physical activity, and social interaction – contributing to the children’s overall well-being. Through the transparency and permeability of its spaces, the architecture fosters engagement and collaboration among teachers, children, and families. The Sant’Ilario project embodies the vision of a contemporary school: inclusive, sustainable, and capable of addressing the educational challenges of today and tomorrow.
