The project for the SS. Annunziata Hospital in Sulmona is part of a major redevelopment and expansion of the existing healthcare facility.

The intervention involves the creation of a new building connected to the “New Wing,” featuring a tree-lined garden that defines and enhances the space between the structures. This garden offers an outdoor yet sheltered area where patients and visitors can rest in peace.

Special attention was given to the design of the internal façades, which overlook quiet green spaces, ensuring a more serene and comfortable environment. The new entrance has been conceived as a central and easily recognizable space on all levels, with large windows facing the garden to enhance natural light and create a strong visual connection with the surrounding landscape. A canopy at the entrance helps guide visitors and defines the architectural identity of the building.

The project also includes dedicated areas for bicycle and scooter parking, strategically located near the entrances and connected by safe pedestrian paths. These features promote sustainable mobility and make hospital access more convenient. Altogether, the interventions aim to improve the quality of both indoor and outdoor spaces, fostering a more human-centered and welcoming experience for users, visitors, and healthcare professionals.

With this project, the SS. Annunziata Hospital strengthens its role as a healthcare landmark in the region, integrating functionality, comfort, and architectural quality in a design that enhances the relationship between building, people, and landscape.
