The project for the new dental and oral health clinic Villa Santa Margherita, located within the Piero Palagi Hospital in Florence, is an architectural and healthcare redevelopment initiative aimed at creating a state-of-the-art public dental care center.

Villa Santa Margherita, a former 19th-century convalescent home and later the site of the Tuscan Orthopedic Institute (since 1923), now stands as a symbol of public healthcare innovation.

The 2,500 sqm area, distributed across multiple levels in a restored 18th-century building, includes 21 dental units (treatment chairs) and advanced equipment for diagnostics, surgery, and orthodontics, as well as a surgical room, radiology unit, dental laboratory, spaces for university-level training, pediatric areas, and “special care” facilities for patients with physical or socioeconomic vulnerabilities.

The project involved the restoration of original 18th-century frescoes, stuccoes, and monumental staircases, in collaboration with the Heritage Authority (Soprintendenza). It thus combines philological restoration, medical technology, and equitable access to care—positioning itself as a national model for public dentistry.
