The Villa Saletta Winery project is a restyling of buildings constructed in the 1980s, renewing both the image and functions of the facility while maintaining a strong connection to the landscape of the Pisan countryside.

The intervention involves the exterior surfaces, entrances, tasting and production areas, as well as the construction of a new volume for the storage of agricultural machinery.

The façades are clad in expanded Corten steel sheets, dry-mounted without welding or pre-oxidation, allowing a natural patina to form over time. This material creates “living” and vibrant surfaces with changing tones that evoke the marks and striations typical of the cultivated fields in the area, reinforcing the bond between architecture and territory.

Cork elements, used as reveals in the openings and on the external staircase, introduce material and chromatic contrasts, symbolically referencing the building’s functions and the features of the agricultural landscape. The joints on the Corten surfaces define fields that evoke the surrounding wine-growing landscape.

The project is also aimed at improving energy performance and systems, with a highly efficient building envelope thanks to the use of external thermal insulation, partly made with exposed cork. This ensures an ideal internal microclimate for winemaking processes and product storage, combining sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality.
