The project aims to transform the rigid, box-like volume of the gym into a more articulated and sculpted form, with a shaped, dynamic roof that echoes the volumetric language of the historic center of Gambassi, allowing the building to blend harmoniously into the town’s urban and spatial fabric.

The decision to embed the gym into the slope is intended to reduce its volumetric impact within the urban space and reflects a contemporary design principle that values urban voids in landscape composition and urban planning.

The articulated volume of the gym creates, on the uphill side, a public square that becomes the central hub of the school, gymnasium, and sports field complex. Approaching from the upper level, visitors arrive in a welcoming urban space, characterized by a low, elongated roof that leads to a viewing gallery, offering a perspective over both the gym interior and the landscape below.

The compactness of the volume also allows for the preservation of key views of the surrounding landscape from the square. Materials and colors have been carefully selected to harmonize with the local stone and brickwork, capturing the essence of the place and ensuring a sense of continuity within the urban environment, the landscape, and in the perception of its inhabitants.
